The Museum relies on its loyal and dedicated team of nearly twenty volunteers to help support our part-time Operations Manager in running the Museum and keeping it open to visitors throughout the week (Tuesday to Sunday inclusive). Being an independent Museum of charitable status with operating costs circa £60,000 per annum admissions, gift aid and donations are critical to our survival.

Our Museum is a recipient of the Queens for Voluntary Service which is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work in their communities.

Our Museum can offer placement opportunities for those interested in history, heritage and tourism professions.
We welcome enquiries from students for work experience at any time of the year at any stage of their academic career at aged 16 or over. Our availability to accept new students does depend on the numbers involved at one time therefore we suggest students liaise with their tutors or teachers before contacting the museum.
We offer a structured programme depending on the school’s and/or student’s own requirements.

Couples membership: £25.00
Overseas single membership: £18.75
Overseas couples membership: £30.00
