A freelance calligrapher for over forty years, Nick has been teaching calligraphy for nearly as long for various education establishments, including colleges, in the West Midlands as well as for local calligraphy groups in the wider region.

He is chairman of the Birmingham Calligraphy Society and secretary/editor of the Society for Italic Handwriting.

He has undertaken commissions for various well-known companies and organisations and his work has featured in many exhibitions over the years.

Italic Calligraphy In this workshop Nick Caulkin of the Birmingham Calligraphy Society will show how to write the italic script with accompanying capitals. Italic is a very elegant and versatile script and can be used for a variety of purposes. Participants will need to have a calligraphy (italic) fountain pen set.
