Producing the Ultimate Greetings Card

April 15 - 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

£12.50

The Pen Museum is hosting an opportunity to learn how to make high-quality, bespoke greetings cards.

City-based calligrapher Stephen Duckett will be sharing his expertise at an introductory event, covering both the lettering and paper art elements of making a unique and distinctive card.

With an opportunity to produce your own card, the hands-on course will guide visitors through every stage of production, including:

–           choice of paper and ink

–           choice of quotes, and sizing

–           writing the card exterior and interior

–           folding, hand-cutting and adding actual depth and weight to the card

–           pressing the completed folio

–           making comprehensive inspections

–           producing handmade envelopes

–           ribbon and tissue wrapping

–           wax sealing and addressing the envelope.

Tools including nibs, pen holders, inks and card will provided. There will also be the opportunity to buy some of Stephen’s creations on the day.

Stephen, the former Head Butler at Blenheim Palace, prides himself on creating some of the most exquisite greeting cards in the UK and this event offers a unique opportunity to work alongside him and learn the art of his workmanship.
