A Picture Paints a Thousand Words! – Summer Family Workshop
August 26 - 11:30 am - 1:30 pm£5
Come and learn about zoomorphic calligraphy and calligrams to create your own quirky animal designs using steel pen nibs and ink.
Make some simple line drawings of animals using a variety of pens and explore animals and patterns in artefacts around the museum.
What is your favourite animal? Zebra, lion, elephant? Write down all the things you know about that animal. What colour is it? Does it have a beak? How many legs does it have? Does it have tusks? Does it live underwater? Is it a mammal, a reptile, an amphibian, a fish or a marsupial? Draw the outline of the animal using long sweeping strokes of the the pen nib and then fill the animal with some or all of the words you have listed using calligraphy techniques that will be demonstrated on the day.
The Workshop is aimed at ages 7-12. Cost is per child, accompanying adults are free of charge. Only 10 spaces available!
